Mr. Young is a Managing Partner and Co-founder of Spruce Capital Partners.  Previously, he held the position of Managing Director at Burrill & Company; a diversified global financial services firm focused on the life sciences industry. Mr. Young has over eighteen years of experience in the biotechnology industry. His focus areas of investment cover agriculture, renewable energy, and chemicals, as well as biological tools and processes which promote sustainability.  He has played a lead role in a number of venture capital financings and has been involved in the early formation of several portfolio companies.

 

Mr. Young currently serves on the Boards of Agerpoint and Crop Enhancement as well as observes on the Boards of Greenlight Biosciences and Provivi.

 

Before joining Burrill & Company, Mr. Young worked as a molecular biologist focused on protein expression at an early-stage biotech startup located in San Diego.  Mr. Young received his BS in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from the University of California, San Diego, and an MS in Biotechnology from Northwestern University.
