Roger Wyse, Managing Partner
Dr. Wyse is co-founder and Managing Partner at Spruce Capital Partners. Previously, he was President and COO of Biogreentech at Burrill & Company. He joined Burrill in 1998 and headed the development of the agriculture, food, nutraceuticals, and industrial biotech venture activities. He left Burrill in 2013 to co-found Spruce Capital Partners.
Dr. Wyse has earned global recognition as one of the top 50 most influential people in the Global Bioeconomy. He and his team at Spruce Capital Partners are known as some of the most active investors, with deep domain expertise in Biogreentech and Synthetic Biology. Dr. Wyse currently serves on the boards of Amfora, Evolve Biosystems, Inscripta, Napigen, and Pivot Bio. He also serves on the board of BIO (Biotechnology Innovation Organization) and on the BIO Gene Editing Advisory Committee.
Before becoming a venture investor, Dr. Wyse served for five years as Dean of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which is widely known for research excellence across its programs in biological, food, and agricultural sciences. Before that, Dr. Wyse served as Dean of Research at Cook College, Rutgers University, and Director of the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station.
Prior to his academic career, he spent 15 years as an award-winning scientist in the USDA - ARS.
